How much land does the Forest Preserve District own?

The District owns and manages nearly 26,000 acres of land at 60 forest preserves, about 13 percent of the total land in DuPage County. DuPage forest preserves contain 30 lakes and ponds, 3,471 species of plants and animals, and 145 miles of trails. Some forest preserves are jointly owned parcels, and some are the site of nature centers or amenities operated by other agencies.
