Wild Things: What Does a Forest Preserve Ranger Do?

From teaching people how to kayak to inspecting preserve boundaries to picking up trash, forest preserve rangers do it all. They lead nature hikes and educational programs, answer visitor questions and know the best spots to see wildlife, spring wildflowers and sunrises. It's no wonder many people don't know what rangers do. District ranger Adam Carlson said it's the most frequently asked question he gets while he's out and about in the preserves. The District also offers Ranger Adventure Camps in the summer and Ranger Adventure Days and Be a Junior Ranger programs throughout the year to introduce kids to the job.

Carlson talks about his job and what it takes to be a forest preserve ranger on Wild Things on WDCB Radio (90.9 FM).
