Bids and Proposals

Doing Business with the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County

All of the departments of the Forest Preserve Disrict of DuPage County purchase required goods and services in conformance with Illinois state law, state regulation, DuPage County Purchasing Ordinance, related resolutions of the Board of Commissioners, and administrative policies. Requirements of less than $20,000 are made in accordance with established procedures for small-dollar purchases and informal quotations. Formal bids for purchases in excess of $20,000 are advertised in local newspapers and may be listed in the Current Bid Announcements section below. When a supplier is aware of a solicitation, they can contact the appropriate department indicated on the announcement to request that the bid document be mailed. The Forest Preserve Commission reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive technicalities.

Current Bid and Proposal Announcements

The Forest Preserve District of DuPage County is currently seeking bids and proposals on the following projects:

  • Land Management

    • Sealed bids will be received at the main office of the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County, 3 South 580 Naperville Road, Wheaton, Illinois, 60187-8761 until 10:00 am Local Time, Wednesday, May 14, 2008, and will be publicly opened at that time and location, for a project entitled "District Wide Wetland Mitigation Sites for East Branch and McDowell Grove Forest Preserves." 

      The work involves mowing & selective herbiciding of invasive plants on approximately 8.1 acres of wetland or prairie areas, installation of 6,862 wetland and prairie plugs, interseeding of approximately 7.0 acres of prairie and wetland, and 0.2 acres of new prairie seeding. Additional work shall include 30 CY of excavation, installation of 970 SY of erosion control blanket, installation of 480 LF of wire mesh fencing.

      The East Branch project site is located on the west side of Swift Road one mile north of North Avenue at the District’s East Branch Forest Preserve off-leash dog facility in Glendale Heights, Illinois. The McDowell Grove project site is located along the regional trail between Ogden Avenue and the main parking lot at the McDowell Grove Forest Preserve in Naperville, Illinois.

      A non-mandatory pre-bid meeting will be at the East Branch Forest Preserve, on Monday, May 5, 2008 at 9:00 am.  At 10:30 a.m. we will meet on the west side of the Fawell Dam at McDowell Grove Forest Preserve.  Consideration of contract award will likely be made on Tuesday, June 3, 2008.  The project is expected to be completed by October 1, 2008.

      Plans, specifications, and bid forms may be purchased for $20.00 at the above address.  The Forest Preserve Commission reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive technicalities.

  • Land Management

    • Sealed bids will be received at the main office of the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County, 3 South 580 Naperville Road, Wheaton, Illinois, 60187-8761 until 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, May 28, 2008, and will be publicly opened at that time and location, for a project entitled “Mayslake Hall: Wood Windows, Doors & Transoms for South Courtyard & Solarium." The bids must be accompanied by a 10% bid security.

      The scope of work includes:  removal, restoration & reinstallation of zinc leaded glass windows; custom fabrication of windows, wood storm windows and door assemblies with swing doors with panic hardware and full-height fixed sidelights.  New historic reproduction hardware to be fabricated for windows and doors to match original hardware.  Windows and doors to be painted on the interior and faux-grained on the exterior.  Fabrication of exterior brick molds.  Contractor qualifications include previous work on restoring historic windows, doors, and zinc-leaded glass, and fabrication of historic reproduction windows and doors.  The project site is located at the Mayslake Forest Preserve, Mayslake Hall in Oak Brook, Illinois.

      A pre-bid meeting for interested contractors will be held at the Mayslake Forest Preserve 1717 W. 31st Street in Oak Brook, Illinois 60523 on Friday, May 16, 2008 at 10:00 A.M. Meet at Mayslake Hall in the living room. Consideration of contract award will likely be made on Tuesday, June 17, 2008.

      Plans, specifications, and bid forms may be purchased for $15.00 at the above Wheaton main office address, between 8:00 A.M. and 4:30 P.M., Mon. – Fri. The Forest Preserve Commission reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive technicalities. The estimate for the project is $215,000.

  • Land Management

    • Sealed bids for a project entitled "Danada Headquarters Standby Generator Replacement" will be received at the Structural Maintenance Blackwell Shop office of the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County, 29W400 Mack Rd., West Chicago, IL  60185 until 2:30 P.M. Local Time, Friday, May 9, 2008.  Bids will then be publicly opened and read aloud in the same location at 2:35 P.M. 

      Main components of work include:  replacement of existing standby generator with new Onan 30Kw generator, and other work as noted in bid specification.  Contractor must provide labor, equipment and supplies, (as described in the bid packet).  Bids on all work of this contract shall be subject to the provisions of the "Illinois Prevailing Wage Act" (Illinois Revised Statutes, Chapter 48, Section 39S - 1-12). 

      A MANDATORY pre-bid walkthru will be held at 9:00 A.M. on Thursday, May 1, 2008 at Danada Headquarters, located at 3S580 Naperville Road, Wheaton, IL.  Consideration of contract award will be made by the District’s Board of Commissioners.  Specifications and bid forms may be obtained at the Structural Maintenance office at the above Mack Road address.  The Forest Preserve Commission reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive technicalities.

Local Time, Friday, April 18, 2008.  Bids will then be publicly opened and read aloud in the same location at 2:35 P.M. 
    • Main components of work include:  Tear off and replacement of the existing wood shingle roof system.  Contractor must provide labor, equipment and supplies, (as described in the bid packet).  Bids on all work of this contract shall be subject to the provisions of the "Illinois Prevailing Wage Act" (Illinois Revised Statutes, Chapter 48, Section 39S - 1-12).

  • Natural Resource Management

    • The District will be accepting sealed bids for the project entitled: “2008 Selective Herbicide Application – Pratt’s Wayne and Blackwell Forest Preserves.
    • The work for this project includes selective herbicide application to invasive and aggressive species during the 2008 growing season. This work is to be conducted in wetlands and buffer areas within Pratt’s Wayne Woods Forest Preserve and Blackwell Forest Preserve using hand held equipment and all terrain vehicles.
    • Sealed bids will be received by the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County, P.O. Box 5000, Wheaton, Illinois 60189-5000 (mailing address), 3 South 580 Naperville Road, Wheaton, Illinois (physical address) by 10:30 AM Wednesday, March 26, 2008, and opened at 10:45 AM on Wednesday, March 26, 2008.

    • There is no mandatory pre-bid meeting. However, we encourage bidders to visit the project sites to look at specific site conditions. Pratt’s Wayne Woods project sites are located along Stearns Road between Munger Road and Route 25 in Wayne Township. Blackwell Forest Preserve project sites are best accessed from the Structural Maintenance parking lot on Mack Road east of Route 59. (See maps on pages 5-6 in the bid package.)

  • Office of Environmental Sevices

    • Phase I Development Maintenance

    • Notice is hereby given to all interested parties that the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County is seeking competitive Bids for the above referenced project. Sealed proposal will be received at the main office 3 South 580 Naperville Road, Wheaton, IL 60187-8761 until 4 p.m., local time, April 4, 2008, and must be accompanied by a 10% Bid Security. The Bids will be publicly opened at 4 p.m. local time, April 4, 2008 at the Forest Preserve Headquarters. The work primarily consists of periodic road grading, mowing and herbiciding. A MANDATORY Pre-Bid walkthrough will be held on March 28, 2008 at 9:30 a.m. local time at Greene Valley Landfill.

      Oak Meadows Main Bar Renovations

      Sealed bids for a project entitled "Oak Meadows Main Bar Renovations" will be received at the Structural Maintenance Blackwell Shop office of the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County, 29W400 Mack Rd., West Chicago, IL  60185 until 2:30 P.M. Local Time, Wednesday, February 20, 2008.  Bids will then be publicly opened and read aloud in the same location at 2:35 P.M. 

      Main components of work include:  excavate the existing main bar drain line system and replace drains, install venting, replace concrete floor and install new ceramic floor, new ceiling, and bar back frp panels. 

      Contractor must provide labor, equipment and supplies, (as described in the bid packet).   Bids on all work of this contract shall be subject to the provisions of the "Illinois Prevailing Wage Act" (Illinois Revised Statutes, Chapter 48, Section 39S - 1-12).
