For decades, St. James Farm in Warrenville was one family’s secluded retreat, a private estate occasionally opened to the public for special events. For most passersby, St. James Farm was merely three short words on a small brass plate posted near a wrought-iron gate on Winfield Road. But this Memorial Day weekend, the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County will open the gates of St. James Farm for a preview of the county’s newest forest preserve and the architectural marks that one family, the McCormicks, left on this historic property.
